FOR EVERYONE WHO ASKS ME ABOUT LAXATIVES, AND FOR EVERYONE WHO THINKS THEY’RE A GOOD WAY TO LOSE “WEIGHT” AND GET A NICE TEENY TINY TUMMY.
I am here to tell you that you are WRONG. You will not get a teeny tiny tummy. You will get this. I’ve barely eaten in days and yet my stomach still looks like it is pregnant with a toddler because my colon is so inflamed from laxative abuse. It has been like this for years. Now, anytime I eat/consume anything, it swells. And it fucking sucks. So there you go. Laxatives in all their ~m1@~ glory.
i feel like this is something people need to see and know about.
this makes me really sad.
Raising awareness can prevent this.
I will reblog this always. :(
so as i’m scrolling through american apparel’s site wishing everything was cheaper, i stumbled upon this! i don’t know if they forgot to edit it out or if they just don’t really edit their photos but for some reason it made me happy (in an odd way)! people seem to think you need to be obese in order to have stretch marks/cellulite, but this girl right here is average size and she has them. i know a lot of companies edit things like this out because it’s not “visually appealing” but it’s nice that they didn’t because almost every girl i know has stretch marks or cellulite! they don’t make you disgusting, fat, gross or anything else horrible! it makes you human.
wow, I would never expect this from American Apparel. kudos!
My stretch marks are worse and they make me want to cry. But this is good.
wow, that’s a leap for american apparel. a step in the right direction at least.
I know they don’t edit armpit hair either. I think it’s great that the show it like it is.
news flash fat girls with stretch marks who are taking pride in this:
white stretch marks are from losing weight. colored ones are from being fat.don’t flatter yourselves.
First of all, I love this image and the message it conveys. Second of all, to the person above me, you’re wrong. The color of your stretch marks has literally nothing to do with how you gained them- from gaining weight or even muscle, puberty, childbirth, etc- but rather how much they’ve faded. Stretch marks are just your skin quickly stretching to make room for something else, be it some extra weight, boobage, a baby. They don’t automatically change color upon losing weight; they simply fade after a period of time, whether or not you lose or even gain more weight.
I’m rarely rude on here because I like my tumblr to be a happy source, but you need to get off your high horse. Insulting other women serves no purpose, and only continues to perpetuate the harsh criticism and impossible standards women face from the media and their peers. Stop insulting other people for delighting in feeling beautiful because a model - a person we, as a society, put on a pedestal - has flaws like the rest of us. Stop worrying about other people and worry about yourself. Oh, and get your information right, too.
^
I love the message American Apparel is sending to the people out there. People who are trying to lose weight but are afraid of getting stretchmarks take not. IT IS NORMAL! More companies should do this!
Here are the before and after pictures for the One Week No Sugar Challenge.
Before:
I was bloated, my digestion was horrible and I constantly feel uncomfortable with my tummy (mind you, I have got such a sweet tooth that I eat unhealthy dessert everyday)
During:
I opted for healthier options such as fresh/ dried fruits, peanuts and frozen yogurt!. I also workout every other day as normal. The first two days were horrible! I was moody and got agitated easily, after a few days my body got use to it :) The challenge has also made me more aware of the ingredients in some food packaging. for example;
1. My favourite dried cranberries were sugar infused! I was not happy!
2. Most food that says less fat contains more sugar than the full fat version. Manufactures do this to disguise the lack of taste from the full fat version.
3. Almost every food contains sugar! They will disguise it with some scientific terms so you would not recognise it unless you read the ingredients properly! (and in my case google some).
Result:
I can definitely see a change in my body, especially my tummy area. I feel less bloated and my digestion is much better than before. My tummy is flatter too :)
Conclusion:
This challenge proves that with healthy eating, I can get the tummy that I want. However, to see a bigger and longer lasting change I will have to make it a lifestyle and not a short term diet plan. This does not mean that you can not treat yourself once in a while. Have a cheat day a week, so the plan is longer lasting and you do not deprive yourself from things that make you happy such as that piece of chocolate or that slice of cheesecake. If possible, try and opt for a healthier version- dark chocolate or a low fat version of the cheesecake. All and all, this challenge changed my perspective on healthy eating, I will definitely continue this healthy habit (probably add one cheat day a week :))
Will keep that in mind :)
